Bandera 

Bandera is a suburb that can be found northwest of downtown San Antonio, and it’s self-proclaimed “Cowboy Capital of the World”.  The area covers almost 800 square miles of the Texas Hill Country and offers plenty of outdoor recreation along the banks of both the Medina and Sabina Rivers. Bandera is made up of 8 different regions, and no matter where you visit you will surely find clear blue skies, beautiful country scenery, and most importantly good ol’ texas friendly folks

Bandera is home to the Frontier Times Museum. This is a place that offers visitors a close look at history from all eras. Since Bandera sits on the Medina River, you can enjoy walking along the water for a relaxing evening, or enjoying some watersports in the river. This is a popular place where locals and visitors like to go tubing or swim. Bandera is true to its name and really is the “Cowboy Capital of the World”, especially when you consider all of the ranch options here that you can visit. One popular ranch is the Dixie Dude Ranch and another is the Silver Spur Ranch. These locations give you the true feeling of being a cowboy. There are quite a few restaurant options in the area where you can enjoy delicious food. One of the more popular dining spots here is OST Restaurant. This rustic location is highly regarded by visitors and residents alike. Menu offers a variety of options, allowing for plenty of options for the entire family. For Mexican food, you need to check out El Jacalito’s, a high quality restaurant that you would expect to find in a big city. A local old fashion restaurant with tasty country style cooking is the Chikin Coop. Finally if you want some fantastic barbecue, Busbees Bar-B-Que has some spot on cuisine that will give you comfort while eating it.
